National Service Scheme (NSS)

Projects

National Service Scheme (NSS) is an educational programme which came into force in 1969 on the year of 100th birth anniversary of Great Mahatma Gandhi. Dr. V.K.R.V Rao, human resource minister of the time, launched the NSS programme on 24thSeptember, 1969. Personality Development through Social Service is the basic objective of NSS. National Service Scheme provides the volunteers an opportunity to understand the needs and problems of the society which would lead them to involve in the process of solving problems. It helps to develop social and civil responsibility among volunteers. The motto of NSS ‘Not me but you’ reflects the self -less service and appreciation of others’ point ofview.

One unit of National Service scheme (includes 50 each member from both first and second year) is active in our college since the beginning. It is a platform to develop the social responsibility among students and also provides them an opportunity to grasp their own talents. With its dedicated services towards the development of the society in which we live, it enables the students to realize the challenges they have to face in real life and makes them active and creative. The Unit conducts various programmes in collaboration with various government and non-government agencies to develop social thinking and service mentality among the volunteers. Various programmes like home construction, road maintenance, flood relief activities, garden construction, farming activities, social survey, medical camp, various awareness programmes etc. are conducted.

The NSS unit of our college is engaged in various kinds of activities inside and outside the campus. It organizes seminars and personality development classes for students, conducts blood donation campaigns, and helps the college in the conduct of all the programmes in the college.

NSS Unit is highly active in the college which aims at helping the public as well as developing the personality of the volunteers.
